Add products, sizes and prices by hand

To add a product by hand, open Products, select Add a product, give it a variant with a price, then put it on sale. In Hapro, a product is the thing you sell, such as "Laila Basmati Rice". Each product has one or more variants: the sizes or versions a customer can buy, such as "5kg" and "10kg". Prices, SKUs, barcodes and stock belong to variants.

Add a product

1. Open Products and select Add a product.
2. Enter the Name and, if you like, a Short description.
3. Select Create product.

New products start as a draft. Add a variant with a price, then put the product on sale.

Add a variant with a price

On the product's page, in Variants and prices:

1. Select Add a variant.
2. Fill in Variant (for example "5kg"), Price, SKU and, if the product has one, Barcode.
3. Select Add variant.

To change an existing variant's price or details, edit it and select Save variant.

Put the product on sale

In the Availability card, select Put on sale. The assistant only offers products that are on sale. Select Take off sale to stop offering a product without deleting it.

Then add stock for each location where you sell it.

Edit product details

In Product details you can change the Name, Short description and Full description. Select Save details.

Name products the way customers ask for them

When a customer asks for something, the assistant searches your product names and variant names, SKUs and barcodes, and every word the customer used has to appear. So:

• Include the brand, the product and the size: "Elephant Atta 10kg" will be found for "Elephant atta" and "atta 10kg".
• If customers use a different word, include it: "Elephant Atta (chapati flour) 10kg" is also found for "chapati flour".

Adding lots of products at once

During the guided setup, Type them in lets you add up to 25 products at a time with a name, price, stock and SKU. For a whole catalogue, import a spreadsheet or connect your store.

Products from a connected store

Products that come from a connected store show which one under Managed by on the Products page (for example Managed by Shopify) and cannot be edited in Hapro. Change them in the store. Hapro checks the store for changes every 15 minutes, or select Sync now in Settings → Integrations to bring a change across straight away.
